Where to Stay

Note that from anywhere to anyplace up here in Jane-World, it's a 20-minute car ride (when it's not a 30-minute car ride).

Prospect House Berkshire (Egremont, MA)

These are 49 brand-spanking new "Thoughtfully designed nature cabins". In Jane-speak, they're Scandi-chic -- comfy, pine-y, dreamy. Within the compound, there's a restaurant that's a destination
in itself: Cliff House.

Granville House (Great Barrington, MA)

Run by Danny Meyer alums and Friends-of-the-Lark Terri and Terry, this Inn gets the Jane stamp of approval in every detail. At breakfast, ask them
about their dinner-party *vinyl* game.

Red Lion Inn (Stockbridge, MA)

Jane's friend Sarah Eustis runs the historic Red Lion Inn, which has anchored the town of Stockbridge since long before Norman Rockwell set up his studio just down the street.

Suggested listening for your (kid-free) drive there: Norman Fucking Rockwell by Lana Del Rey.

Little Lion (Great Barrington, MA)

This is the Red Lion Inn's spunkier, motel-ier little cousin.

White Hart (Salisbury, CT)

Chic and cozy. In a word, Lark-worthy.

East Rock Inn (Great Barrington, MA)

It's close, it's clean, it's an interesting shade of green.

Wainwright Inn B&B (Great Barrington, MA)

It shares a name with one of Jane's favorite singers, Rufus Wainwright. Like with Rufus, the reviews are often glowing.

The Inn at Kenmore Hall (Richmond, MA)

You guessed it, Jane knew (and loved) Scott & Frank, the maestros behind the mansion. Yes, it's a 35-minute drive from New Marlborough -- but just as the French say, "You must suffer to be beautiful", Jane might say, "You must suffer to be beautifully housed."

The Apple Tree Inn (Lenox, MA)

A grand old lodge where Jane's step-son, Luke, will show you to your table.

Where to Eat

Dinner

The Prairie Whale (Great Barrington) -- "Wait, am I in Bushwick?"

The Cliff House (Egremont) -- Sit above water, dine way above average.

Cantina (New Marlborough) -- Far more than the humble name might suggest.

Hilltown Hot Pies (South Egremont) -- This is Jane's step-daughter's husband's brother's place. Got that? Not making an appearance here could be taken as a major insult. Opening September 2025. When Neapolitan pizza chefs visit America, this is one of  5 places they'll beeline to.

No Comply (Great Barrington) -- No frills, great food.

Southfield Store (Southfield) -- A frisbee throw from Jane's house. Open for b'fast & lunch (and sometimes dinner).

Old Inn on the Green (New Marlborough) -- Legend has it that Paul Newman would eat (and stay) here when racing at nearby Lime Rock. Paul Newman had good taste.

Hy's Fried (South Egremont) -- A Jane favorite. Amazing fried chicken with a hot honey sauce.

Heirloom Lodge (Housatonic) -- If you never made it to the Heirloom Cafe in San Francisco, don't sweat it. It moved here.

The Ostrich Room (Lenox) -- Jane loved music. The Ostrich Room has live music. Burger and a song request, please!

Bizen (Great Barrington) -- Jane the fish-hater had a big love: the "Silence of the Yams" roll.

The Mill (South Egremont)  -- Cozy in a clubby way. 4.7 Rating. You could do a lot worse.

The Red Lion (Stockbridge) -- Entrees serious enough to get wine pairings.

Little Cat Lodge (Hillsdale, NY) -- Under the radar, easier to get a table, passes the Jane test.

B’fast & Lunch

Rubi's Cafe -- Pairs well with Rubiner's Cheese Shop next door, where Jane would always be met with a playfully irreverent (but totally reverential):
"Well, Jane F*%#ing Larkworthy!"

The Best Damn Espresso Truck (parked near the post office in Great Barrington) -- Here's Jane's profile of her favorite shot-puller:

Southfield Store (Southfield) -- A frisbee throw from Jane's house. Open for b'fast & lunch (and sometimes dinner).

Now you're an area insider. Hope to see you in October!
